We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in line with POPIA.

2. What information we collect

When you fill in an enquiry form on this website, we collect:

Your full name

Your phone number

Your email address

Your suburb

The products you are interested in

We also automatically collect limited technical information when you visit this website, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the advertising campaign or link that brought you here (for example, Google Ads tracking parameters). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies. See section 8.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Our products and services are directed at adults.

3. Why we collect your information and on what basis

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

To respond to your enquiry. When you submit the form, we use your details to contact you about your enquiry, answer your questions, and arrange your free in-home consultation if you choose to book one. The legal basis for this is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you send us.

To send you direct marketing, only if you opt in. If you tick the marketing checkbox on our form, we may send you offers and updates from Blind Guys West Rand by SMS, WhatsApp, email or phone. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or contacting us using the details in section 11. We will not send you direct marketing by electronic means without your consent, as required by section 69 of POPIA.

To measure and improve our advertising. We use campaign tracking information to understand which advertisements bring visitors to this website, so that we can measure and improve our marketing.

To comply with the law. We may process your information where we are legally required to do so.

4. Automated communications

To make sure every enquiry receives a fast response, we use automated systems, including AI-assisted messaging, to acknowledge your enquiry, answer common questions, and help you book a consultation by SMS, WhatsApp or email. You can ask to speak to a member of our team at any time during any conversation, and a human consultant always conducts the in-home consultation itself.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Our service providers (operators). We use trusted third-party providers to operate this website, store enquiries, and send communications on our behalf. This includes our marketing systems partner, PatioPro, and the customer relationship management platform it operates for us (HighLevel Inc., trading as GoHighLevel). These providers process your information only on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Communications and advertising platforms. Messages may be delivered through SMS, WhatsApp and email service providers. We also share limited conversion data (for example, that a form was submitted) with Google to measure advertising performance.

The Blind Guys franchise group. Where necessary, for example if your area is serviced by another branch, we may pass your enquiry to the appropriate Blind Guys branch or to the franchisor so that you can be assisted.

Professional advisers and authorities, where required by law.

6. Transfers outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, including our customer relationship management platform, store information on servers located outside South Africa, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside South Africa, we ensure the transfer complies with section 72 of POPIA, including that the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements that provide an adequate level of protection for your information.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry information for as long as necessary to deal with your enquiry and, if you become a customer, for the duration of our relationship and any period required by law (for example, tax and accounting requirements). If you opted in to marketing, we keep your contact details until you opt out or ask us to delete them. You may request deletion at any time, see section 9.

8. Cookies and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to remember the advertising campaign that brought you here, and to measure advertising performance through Google Ads and Google Tag Manager.
